About us

There are many excellent big bands around that play music from the 40’s swing era, but this group has taken on the sounds of the New York Jazz and Latin/Jazz scene. This includes the music of Maynard Ferguson, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie, to name a few. More than capable of adding in tunes that are necessary for any occasion, the choice of the music and the style is what sets us apart.
Gene Bensen & Regent Scott, both professional musicians, have brought together musicians from the Westchester, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey areas to create the grand sound of the New York Jazz scene.
Gene Bensen’s performance credits are numerous, and include the Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey Bands, Tito Rodriquez, Machito, Lionel Hampton, the national company of Fiddler on the Roof, the Ice Capades, The Bee Gee’s and Broadway shows including Dancin, Hair, Annie and more. Gene has studied with New York Philharmonic notables, Jimmy Smith, Vince Panzarella as well as the inimitable Carmine Caruso. He currently serves on the Board of the Carmine Caruso Scholarship Fund at the Manhattan School of Music.
Regent Scott’s background includes performing with numerous big bands in the New York area as a young trumpeter. He studied with Frank Venezia of the NBC Orchestra, Carmine Caruso and Harry Glantz. Regent decided to try leading his own band which was a success from the start, playing in places like the Palisadium in New Jersey, the Concord Hotel and Las Vegas. He has always delighted audiences with his expressive, full-bodied trumpet sound and his engaging, warm, entertaining personality.
